Roger Federer may not have won the big bottle at the WTF, but he did score the big sponsorship deal. Roger Federer announced via Facebook today that he’s the new brand ambassador for Moet & Chandon champagne. He declared it an honor to represent such a “traditional and glamorous brand.” He also said the job was a lot of “pressure” and a “challenge.” Ah, false modesty. Looking cute while holding a flute of champagne seems to come fairly easily to Rog. Winning the French Open, it ain’t.
Two of my fave things – Roger and champagne! What’s not to love?
Okay, I don’t really love the pose in this last photo. It’s more ExLax than Moet & Chandon. But what do I know? The photographer, Patrick Demarchelier, is a fashion world icon (made famous, to me, at least, in the recurring “It’s Patrick!” line in The Devil Wears Prada film.)
Visit the Moet & Chandon webpage for more.
Side note – with this news, along with reports that he’s earning around $10 million for his Gillette-sponsored exhibition tour through South America this December, it appears Roger’s determined to pad the twin’s college fund over the break. Not a bad way to spend the off season, huh?
