And the draws are out! I’m off to work, so no time for a detailed analysis (or really, any analysis) but I’m looking forward to hearing what you have to say. Also, I’ll update this later when I’m not running late to a meeting!
At the top of the draw, Rafael Nadal has a tough quarter. John Isner is a possible fourth round. David Ferrer and David Nalbandian could be around in the quarterfinals. He could face either Soderling or Murray in the semis (Del Potro‘s in Murray’s section, too.)
At the bottom of the draw, Roger Federer could face Gilles Simon in the second round. Mardy Fish or Sam Querrey are possible fourth rounders. Gael Monfils, Andy Roddick or Stan Wawrinka could await in the quarterfinals. Novak Djokovic and Tomas Berdych are the supposed semifinal opponents for Roger, though neither will like their possible second round opponents (Nole gets Karlovic, Berdych gets Philipp Kohlschreiber.)
ACK! No time. Caroline Wozniacki and Francesca Schiavone are seeded quarterfinal opponents, but Justine Henin is Schiavone‘s possible fourth round (battle of the beautiful backhands.) Venus or Azarenka could meet Woz (or Justine) in the semis. Everyone will be looking forward to a Venus vs. Sharapova fourth round.
At the bottom of the draw, Vera Zvonareva is the gal with the No. 2 next to her name. Sam Stosur is her likely quarterfinal match. Kim Clijsters and Jelena Jankovic are the top seeds in the other lower quarter of the draw. Dinara Safina plays Kim Clijsters in the 1st round! Ana Ivanovic is in Kim’s section, as well.
Here are some video highlights from the draw ceremony with Ivan Lendl and Alicia Molik:
