Maria Sharapova and Sasha Vujacic are getting married! Via the LATimes:
Los Angeles Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic and tennis star Maria Sharapova are engaged to be married, the Slovenian athlete told reporters before an exhibition game on Thursday (Oct. 21). Prior to the Lakers-Warriors games, Vujacic said that the three-time grand slam tennis champ Sharapova had said yes to his “old-school proposal” and that they were both “really happy.”
Sasha reportedly popped the question in his Manhattan Beach home, on the couples’ one year anniversary. (Feel free to reminisce here and here.) These two aren’t wasting much time, are they? Though the 23-year-old Maria often claims to feel old for her age.
She may also be feeling a bit heavier on the court – assuming she wears her reportedly bling-tastic (Tiffany?) wedding ring during her matches. Thank you, TMZ:
Maria’s already been spotted out wearing the ring — we’ve seen it and trust us … even Vanessa Bryant would be impressed by the future Mrs. Vujacic’s ginormous diamond.
Of course this is thrilling news! Thrilling enough, in fact, to pull me out of my vacation stupor and crack open the old laptop. (Sorry, Roger, 900 matches won’t make me put down a mai tai.) The superhuman couple has yet to set a date, but I’m feeling Fall 2011. . . But will it be beach or ballroom? Wang or Lhuillier? And who’s the official sponsor?
