Rafael Nadal prepares for battle with Andy Murray
Hey GTT peeps, just a quick update with photos from the current semi-final match at Rogers Cup. Andy Murray seems to have come out with a solid game plan against Nadal.
Current score is 3-3 in the 2nd. Enjoy!
*Update*
Andy Murray pulled off the rare straight set victory over Rafael Nadal, winning the match 6-3, 6-4. I think it’s accurate to say that everyone around the Rexall Centre was a little stunned – not so much by the final result as by the scoreline.
“I thought for sure it was going to a third,” I heard one fan say to another as we filed out of the stadium. I think that was probably the general concensus.
It would have been interesting if the match had gone the distance as it was starting to spit rain just as Murray was wrapping things up. Things seem to be clearing up now, but rain remains a threat for the rest of the tournament. Locals are skeptical of the city’s meteorologists, so I won’t bother to link to a weather report.
Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer were practicing on side-by-side practice courts during the tail end of Rafa vs. Murray. Let’s hope the weather stays clear for this evening’s semifinal, to be shown live in the States on ESPN2 (7:00pm, eastern.)
We’ll have some more about the match after Rafa’s and Andy’s pressers. Which are scheduled in the next half hour.
