I somehow missed this pre-Queen’s interview with Andy Roddick and T.V. presenter Jonathan Ross. “Stop showing off, Swiss Guy!” Kinda funny. Some awkward moments (uh, no, that’s not Brooklyn) and the best part: “I’M A WINNER!” “I’LL WIN WIMBLEDON THIS YEAR!”
I didn’t miss this NYTimes story on Andy Roddick at Wimbledon – a meeting of the Federer-Roddick mutual admiration society.
Federer: “You don’t always need to beat the best, but you need to be there in contention, and that’s what he’s (Andy Roddick) done over and over again,” Federer said. “I think that’s what I did at the French Open before I won, and I think that’s why I’ve been so respected in Paris. And I think he’ll be respected as much in Wimbledon, and I think it’s going to be nice for him.
Roddick: “When I’ve had my valleys, for lack of a better word, he’s (Roger Federer) has always been one to publicly defend me when people have been looking to kind of report that I’m on the way down.”
Love Jonathan Ross’s Elmer Fudd-level lisp – Anday Mwurray!
Also, don’t miss this great human-interest story on Jamaican pro Dustin Brown, who lost to Jurgen Melzer in four sets on Monday. (“Who?” you ask. Well, read the story. And then read his presser.)
