Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will face off on Sunday in the finals of Madrid. Rafa is going for his third straight Masters 1000 level title, after winning Monte Carlo and Rome this Spring. Apparently no one has ever won three Masters titles in a row before. Roger Federer is playing in his first final since the Australian Open and looking to defend his Madrid title. Roger and Rafa haven’t met in a match since exactly this time last year – when Roger took out Rafa in Madrid: 6-4, 6-4.
Are you excited? Roger says you should be:
Roger continued to be excited about his meeting with Rafa in the post match presser:
“After playing here last year you figured, maybe the French, Wimbledon or down the stretch in America at the latest we’ll face off again, but it just never ended up happening,” Federer said.
“It shows how incredible our last few years have been and I think it’s exciting for tennis and for us obviously that we can face off again.”
Rafa remained calm after his 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 battle with Almagro.
“It’s always a pleasure to be playing the best player in history” Rafa says.
And it’s always a pleasure to watch one of the best rivalries in tennis! So excited! I’m assuming you all are too. If you aren’t, I want to an explanation!
