Yes, yes, I know that Brooklyn Decker isn’t a tennis player – she’s just married to one – but GTT is an inclusive place. Plus, I need to give a bone (pun intended after the fact) to the small segment of GTT’s male readership that isn’t entranced by Roger Federer’s hair.
Brooklyn Decker, wife of Andy Roddick, scored what she calls “the equivalent of a model winning the MVP or the Super Bowl” this week: the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
She told the Today show on Monday that she’s been dreaming of landing the cover since making her SI debut five years ago. The editor’s final selection is kept top secret – even to the models – until the magazine’s unveiling.
“I burst into tears like a child,” the 22-year-old said, recalling the moment she learned the news. “It’s really exciting. It’s just now hitting me, so I am really happy.”
Her husband was pretty happy, too (via Twitter):
Yes, I’m sure many men across the world are feeling really excited about it, too.
“I think he basically takes the reign in the locker room for the next year or so,” Brooklyn joked about Andy’s life post-Swimsuit-Edition-cover. “I think he has good bragging rights.” (Quotes via US Magazine)

But no one will argue that Brooklyn Decker leads a charmed life: a tennis stud for a husband, a killer rack and the ability to say things like “it’s the perfect storm for a swimsuit shoot” without a hint of a smirk marring her glossy lips (a lack of irony must be good for the skin.) “Ahoy, mateys! I spy a swimsuit shoot on the horizon!”
Another great line from Brooklyn: “Usually it’s really full-on sexy, but this year it’s much more subtle.” You be the judge:
