Juanqui doesn’t play doubles, or at least not as well as Feli, and that’s what they need the fourth player for; that’s why Lopez is always on the team. Costa was picking between Juanqui and Ferru, not Juanqui and Feli. (and Ferrero is an alternate, so he’s still there practicing with them.)

Do we know why Juan Carlos Ferrero wasn’t chosen to part of team? He’s higher ranked than Feli Lopez and he filled in ably at the last tie.
