Oh boy, a Roger Federer update! (Maybe I should say, “Oh girls!”)
Roger Federer says the females in his life are doing great (via Facebook):
Mirka, Myla and Charlene are all doing really well. The baby girls are doing new things every day and are a lot of fun. Hopefully, before the end of this week, I will charge my camera and have my Dad or someone take some pictures so I can share one with you. Thanks for the support and warm wishes.
I’d say he sounds like a typical, crusty-eyed new parent who can’t even summon up the energy to find his camera, let alone charge it, except for the fact that Roger Federer spent last week beating Stefan Koubek’s butt. (Koubek, a lefty, trained with Federer before the Rome Masters – click here to review) Here’s what Koubek had to say:
Tomorrow, it’s back to a training week with Roger. And I can’t wait the hard court season. . .
And I have the best training partner in the world to prepare for the coming big weeks: tomorrow, Tuesday, I’m going to a training week with Roger Federer in Switzerland. The week in Sardinia before Paris apparently suited him as much as it suited me. Even though I must admit, he got more out of it than I did …
We’ve been discussing our second joint training week for almost 3 weeks, only with Mirka’s delivery date, everything was uncertain until recently. But since the twins have arrived, it was certain. I’m going tomorrow, will train until Saturday …
Posted on the 27th July.
Thanks to blogging buddy Dootsiez @ Allineedisapicketfence for the news and translation.
So if Koubek posted this on Tuesday, that means Roger wrapped up his training on Saturday. Which makes me think Roger Federer will be playing in Montreal next week. Why would he plan a training week only to sit around until Cincinnati? It doesn’t take that long to charge a camera.
**UPDATE! Rafael Nadal will be joining Papa Roger at the ATP convention in Montreal. At least Uncle Toni says so:
“Rafa will play in Montreal,” said Toni, adding that he does not expect the world No. 2 to be at peak form after two months on the sidelines. “Our concern is to be in condition to play and give the maximum. Then we will see if we can win against Federer, Murray, Djokovic.”
