I totally agree with Chris and her sentiments about Roger. He is so likable and such a true genuine person. Nadal is nice too. But he does not draw the respect and emotion of Federer. Federer is truly a balanced person and a great ambassador.

I’m glad that Chris has shown her vulnerability like the rest of us (even Rafa) to Roger’s greatness. It’s nice to see that the opinions of great tennis players align with the fans.

I do admit, however, to getting the same sense of annoyance and in my usual snit with her when she makes comments about the comparison between the Venus/Safina and Roger/Rafa matches. Avid fans want to watch tennis, usually no matter who’s playing and while I agree with her statement in terms of the ‘occasion’ of every match between Roger and Rafael, it’s really not apples to apples and disparaging to both Safina and Venus for her to say things like that. I guess I’m saying that it’s insulting for her to belittle other matches, no matter whom, when it’s obvious that there is a rivalry that exists between Federer and Nadal that will transcend the ages. Her tendency to make comments like this is what made her hard to bear as a commentator.

I think Chrissie has a lot of company when Roger loses! I even cried when he won in Madrid. It was such an important victory for him, and I know there are all kind of reasons why Nadal might not have been playing his best game, but it was sweet nonetheless.

I watched the 1986 French Open on the Tennis Channel last night, and I was really amazed by how great Chrissie was. She was an amazing clay-court player! And her rivalry with Martina was definitely the equal of Roger and Rafa’s.

i quite agree with this take….and Chris is so spot on…..even she is acknowledging that There is a RIVALRY in the MENS tennis esp that of Roger and Nadal.How distressing this must be for them…for those who say otherwise….

Gosh and Golly, our Chrissie is a true-blue Fedophile. And she’s talking intelligent and tough, which she always was as a player — beneath the Blonde was one smart and calculating Cookie. (I saw her put on muscle when Martina sent her to the gym.)
