Marat Safin may be doing us a favor by retiring at the end 2009 – after watching him go down in flames to Nicolas Lapentti in Monte Carlo yesterday, 6-7 (6), 6-2, 6-7 (6), I don’t think we can take much more heartbreak!
Safin was up 4-0 in the third set! He had 19 break points for the match! And 3 match points! Lapentti’s 32-years-old and ranked 98 in the world! And we thought Marat’s Miami meltdown against young gun, Gael Monfils, was bad.
