GOTOTENNIS - Tennis blog. Tennis news. Tennis gossip.

The ATP offers this short-but-sweet preview to this week’s Monte Carlo Masters, one of my personal favorite tournaments. If the tennis gets boring, you can just look at the scenery!

Anyone else happy to see Kolya Davydenko back in the mix? Honestly, I like the guy.

Of course, the big news is that Roger Federer’s chosen a working honey moon. I think it’s a win-win for him – he gets a couple matches in, he and Mirka enjoy the Monte Carlo vibe, and whether he wins or loses, everyone will be congratulating him. Some say he’s got a cake-walk draw, but I think it’s a tough one: Seppi or Melzer in the 2nd round, Wawrinka in the Rd. of 16, Gilles Simon the seed for the quarters and Novak Djokovic in the semis!

Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray are on the other half of the draw. Murray could face Nalbandian or Davydenko in the quarters. Nadal has a couple intriguing possibilities in his quarter: Monfils or new-nemesis, Del Potro.

There are already some great early-round matchups: new U.S. Clay Court champ Lleyton Hewitt vs. Marat Safin, Tipsarevic vs. Monfils, F-Lo vs. Ferrer, and Chardy vs. Monaco (Juan, that is).
