Wow, I love, love, love this! An interesting video piece by the Wall Street Journal, reviewing the saga behind making the latest batch of U.S. Open Series spots. Justin Gimelstob played a huge part in the campaign before he made his infamous “sexpots and bitches” comments on the radio, and John McEnroe stepped in to save the spots, along with some digital effects. Gimel responded with a pity party: “It was heartbreaking because I put my heart and soul into those ads. The USTA gave me a great opportunity and I let them down.”
The end of this video shows two versions of an ad done with Roger and a “World’s Greatest Tennis Player” mug – the one with Justin is quite funny, actually, but they did a good job of filling in with McEnroe. Enjoy!
