I’m so, so happy for Zheng Jie, the first Chinese woman to ever make it to a Major singles semi final. She’s a wild card! And 5’4″ tall! And a remarkable humanitarian! She’s from Chengdu, the capital of China’s Sichuan Province, and The Times U.K. reports that she will be donating her Wimbledon prize money (the portion she gets to keep, at least) to support earthquake relief in this devastated region:
Zheng last night disclosed that she will donate her portion of her Wimbledon winnings — and they will be at least £187,500 — to China’s earthquake disaster fund in a gesture of astonishing generosity for a player whose total earnings this year amount to about £130,000.

So are we ready for that Williams Williams final, or what?
