The top ladies of tennis were in London last night (sorry, Eastbourne) being wined and dined by Virgin mogul Sir Richard Branson. The party was a tie in with the new “Looking For a Hero” campaign, otherwise known as “the Rome photo shoot that pissed Maria off.” I personally think the campaign is a whole lotta “uh, okay,” but decide for yourself by clicking here to see the results.
Here are the gals, looking great, more or less. I’m surprised that Serena and Maria can get so close to touching without one of them turning to stone.
So who do you think has a bigger crush on Ana – Richard Branson or his son?
Serena reportedly wore almost 4 million dollars worth of diamonds to the party (hell, why not, right?) Most of the diamonds are in the hair clips.
Maria’s looking lovely.
Here are Marion Bartoli and Sam Stosur, who didn’t make it into the ad campaign or to last night’s party. They played tennis instead, each earning spots in the Eastbourne semis. I guess not being a “hero” leaves you time for hobbies.
Marion will face Agnieszka Radwanska in the semis.
Sam takes on (a resurgent?) Nadia Petrova. Sam is my personal Wimby dark horse. Don’t forget, that Marion Bartoli made it to the semis in Eastbourne last year before seemingly coming out of nowhere to make the Wimby finals. Eastbourne matters.
