This is my last green post for a while, but I thought I’d mention that HEAD also has a green initiative going (click here). They support Cool Earth, a British organization that buys and protects rainforest (it’s purchased over 36,000 acres to date.) HEAD has purchased 7,000 acres, equivalent to 100,000 tennis courts.
HEAD is a big ski outfitter, too, and has started a “Don’t pray for snow. Do something” campaign, which is kinda catchy. Bode Miller, who is a HEAD sponsored athlete, will be featured in the advertisements.
Click here to go to the tennis.com “microsite” that summarizes these companies’ green initiatives. It’s a little heavy on the PRese (“Like Wilson player Roger Federer, Wilson is up to the challenge.”), but it’s well designed and lays it all out for us.
TENNIS NOTE: I’m looking forward to watching the Rome tournament this week on Tennis Channel. It appears that their feed has vastly improved over Monte Carlo’s – the ball is visible (what a concept!) and the camera angle is less vertigo-inducing. Once again, I’m taken with the Euro atmosphere of this series of clay court tournaments. I adore the cooler-than-thou Roman spectators.
