So I was intersted in hearing from others that they found the French as boring as I did. Meaning boring for someone who will still watch 5 hours of tennis every night that it’s on. So already, Wimbledon
I’m watching the Moya Henman Match right now – 11-12 in the Fifth. Unbelivable Henman lob, before that was a great Moya serve, then an awesome both-players-at-the-net volley fest won by Henman. The lovely English Rose Lucy Henman biting her lip in the stands, the crowd on Henman Hill (a “throwback yo the late nineties” says Chris Fowler) and the faces of thousands of nail-munching fans magnified in beatuiful HD. Yep, Wimbledon beats the French in the first round.
Henman – Match Pt #7
HENMAN WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy for the crowd and for Tim. Also for myself, since Henman is actually OLDER than I am. Haha, see us oldies can still be a FORCE.
The energy reminds me of last year’s US Open – all those great Agassi matches. Tim, please make it to the quarters!
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga – I hope I get to see him play. Amelie Maursemo – such an awesome serve and volleyer, how could we have ever thought the French was supposed to be her tournament? I think Amelie is going to win again this year. Hopefully in 3 sets against the brittle yet brilliant Justin Henin. But what about Venus – her crazy genius of a father thinks she’s winning this thing – hey, he’s proved us wrong many times before.
ESPN is doing a great job. they are covering a bunch of matches and jumping from court to court. I think the Tennis Channel coverage of the French is the station’s inspiration. I really like their whole “We are the people of Wimbledon” thing. Oooh, great photo of Maria screaming. Have we reached the golden age of (cable) television coverage?
Wow F-Lo’s backhand pass is “the worst shot in tennis”?????? That’s pretty funny of Daren Cahill to say. I’m liking the commentary so far.
ROGER’S OUFIT (I saw it yesterday) – so, so smooth. Loving the long pants and the blazer and the sweater vest and the collared shirt and the gold and white color scheme. It couldn’t be more perfect! He is perfect.
Rafa, looking cute in the long shorts. Haven’t seen how he fares against Mardy Fish yet.
I don’t know why, but this Wimbledon just ˆfeelsˆreally special. So far, so good and hoping for MORE!
